Exceptional Talent vs Exceptional Promise

Evidence Required
Your application should include evidence across several categories:
- Portfolio of work. Examples of your artistic output, performances, exhibitions, publications, or productions.
- Press and media coverage. Reviews, features, and interviews in recognised publications.
- Awards and prizes. National or international recognition for your work.
- Exhibition or performance history. Significant venues, festivals, or events where your work has been shown.
- References. Letters of support from established figures in your field who can attest to your talent and significance.

Tips for a Strong Application
- International recognition. Evidence of work, exhibitions, or performances outside your home country strengthens your case significantly.
- Quality over quantity. A few major achievements are more impressive than many minor ones.
- Strong references. Choose referees who are well-known in the arts world and who can speak specifically about your work.
- Clear personal statement. Explain why the UK is the right place for your practice and what you plan to contribute.
- UK plans. Show how your work will benefit the UK arts sector.
After Endorsement
Once endorsed, you apply for the Global Talent visa. The visa allows you to:
- Live and work in the UK in your artistic field
- Bring dependants
- Apply for ILR after 3 or 5 years (depending on your endorsement category)
- Eventually apply for British citizenship
Comparison with Other Routes
If you are an artist considering other options, see our Global Talent vs Skilled Worker comparison. The Global Talent visa offers more flexibility (no sponsor needed, no salary threshold) but requires evidence of exceptional talent.
